Hari-Kirtana Das

Hari-Kirtana Das, an esteemed yoga teacher and accomplished author gave me the opportunity to collaborate and enhance his visual presence. I aimed to modernize his overall aesthetic, aligning it with his marketing objectives, particularly in anticipation of the launch of his latest book.

Hari shared his new marketing strategy and brand persona, encompassing key details such as target audience and content pillars. With this in mind, I designed an unified and modernized visual identity for him, including a social media template for Instagram.

  • Create a modern and yoga philosophy-inspired brand identity, encompassing a logo, color palette, typography, visual elements, and a social media template.

  • Initiated the logo design process with a concept inspired by Sanskrit letterforms and their interconnections. However, the fusion of this initial idea with a sans-serif font resulted in a modern aesthetic that Hari felt somewhat disconnected from. Consequently, the challenge became crafting a timeless yet contemporary logo that embodied spiritual culture within the context of present-day aesthetics.

    Guided by the marketing strategy, brand persona, and drawing insights from mood boards, inspirational references, and competitor analyses, we gained a nuanced understanding of Hari's desired brand representation.

    In the realm of social media, the emphasis was on educational content, featuring uplifting quotes and references to yoga philosophy books. The corresponding template predominantly employed text-focused cards and inspirational stock images, aligning seamlessly with Hari's vision.

    Notably, Hari already possessed a logomark featuring an illustration of Lord Nrsimhadeva, the half-man, half-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu, renowned for safeguarding devotees externally against malevolence and internally against ego-centric pursuits. The intention was to construct a brand exuding a "ferocious" vibe, characterized by dark yet nuanced colors, conveying the profoundness of meditation and drawing parallels to the seated meditation of a lion.

    The chosen typography emanates elegance, cleanliness, and legibility, with a specific focus on catering to the 30-60 age demographic across various channels, including print, social media, and the website.
